We describe the functionalization of SWNTs enriched in (6,5) chirality with electron donating macrocycles to yield rotaxane-type mechanically interlocked carbon nanotubes (MINTs).Investigations by means of TEM and control experiments corroborated the interlocked nature of the MINTs.
